Naeem ABDUL GHAFOOR Naeem was born on the 4th of May 1997 in Jeddah, a coastal city along the Red Sea. His interest in life sciences began early on during his senior year in high school when he was first introduced to rDNA technologies, after graduating high school in 2016, he moved to Turkey where he spent a year taking preparatory languages classes and in 2018, he started his degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University. Throughout his undergraduate studies he worked on projects ranging from exploring the effect of plant-driven bioactive compounds on cancer cell lines to computational drug discovery and bioinformatics, he completed his thesis work on in silico drug screening for SARS-CoV-2 and graduated in the summer of 2021 as a high honors student. He is currently a graduate student at the same institution under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Yildiz and works on drug repositing for cancer research. His active duties involve utilizing big bioactivity data to develop machine learning models for identifying hit compounds and testing their efficacy in vitro on neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell lines. He is also the developer of the CApred: The Cancer Alchemist, a GUI web-based application for identifying potential cancer-associated targets for small molecules.
